OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America) was founded to help breeders minimize inherited diseases (please see our links). One of the most common and debilitating inherited problems is malformed (dysplastic) hips. Digital x-ray images are taken at 24 months of age to discover the degree of dysplasia before they are bred or used to father a litter. Many breeders will have preliminary images taken at 12 months of age. Most well behaved dogs can have these images taken without anesthesia. If you need help with this or other OFA screening tests please contact the hospital. Our office has a very reasonable OFA hips of $90. Call now.
